Morris Rudolph Saunders, 76, of Roanoke, Va., passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 25, 2011.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Opel and Hazel Adams Saunders; his sisters, Mary Saunders Myers and Lenore Saunders Martin; and his brother, Jack Saunders.
He is survived by his wife, Ina Saunders; a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Darryl Naff; a stepson, Steve Moore; a stepdaughter, Robin Schuh and husband, David; brothers, J.T. Saunders, Kenneth Saunders, and Bill Saunders; sisters, Anita Saunders Hurley and Judy Saunders Weeks; brothers-in-law, Randolph Hutchison and Howell Hutchison; a granddaughter, Whitney Moran and husband, Michael; stepgrandchildren, Evan Moore and Alex Schuh; a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Moran; and his former wife, Panzie Gordon Saunders.
Mr. Saunders enjoyed his family, golf and fishing with his brothers.
He was an ardent Washington Redskins and University of Virginia Fan.
He also enjoyed yard work, loved his cats and enjoyed feeding the squirrels, raccoons and birds.
Graveside Services will be held in Evergreen Burial Park 2 p.m. on Friday, January 28, 2011. The Rev. Arnold Naff will officiate. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel on Brambleton Avenue from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2011.
Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to the SPCA.
