NEWPORT NEWS - James Joey Proffitt, 59, went to be with the Lord and his beloved wife Patty on July 16, 2017. He was born in Newport News to the late Wade and Kate Proffitt. Joey was a devoted Christian, husband, brother, father, grandfather, and true friend. He was a skilled mechanic who also enjoyed fishing, tending to his garden, and attending church services with his dear granddaughter Madison, and checking in always on his church family.
He is survived by sons James Proffitt (Theresa), Matthew Proffitt (Ashley); grandchildren Olivera, Madison, Sarah, Gabriel, Hunter, Sophia, and Aiden, brothers Bill Proffitt (Judy), Johnny (Judy), Larry, and Ricky (Daisy), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held Friday, July, 21st at Faith Church of God (1115 Todd's Ln, Hampton, VA) at 11am and the funeral begins at 12:00. Burial will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park. Arrangements are in the care of Peninsula Funeral Home.
