George Weldon "Gee" Walker Jr.
REIDSVILLE — George Weldon "Gee" Walker Jr., 90, of 390 Camp Springs Road, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at his home.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, in Camp Springs United Methodist Church cemetery.
A native of Caswell County, he was a son of the late George Weldon and Annie Florence Sartin Walker and had lived in the Camp Springs community all of his life. He was the retired owner of G.W. Walker Store and Welding Shop and attended Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. Walker was a charter member of the Cherry Grove Ruritan Club and was a former Caswell County commissioner.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond Walker , Homer Walker , and Sam Walker ; sisters, Mae Hodges, Rena Underwood, and Mildred Combs.
Surviving is his wife of 70 years, Ruby Somers Walker of the home; a son, George Weldon Walker III and wife, Kathy, of Kernersville; daughters, Lugene W. Wright and husband, Allen, and Jenell W. Jones and husband, Hillman, all of Reidsville, and Rachel W. Boone and husband, Ronnie, of Siler City; a brother, Mitchell Walker and wife, Willie Frances, of Ruffin; 12 grandchildren; and 22 greatgrandchildren.
The family will see friends from 7 to 9 this evening, Oct. 26, 2004, at Citty Funeral Home, and at other times at the residence.
