John  C. Peeler 

    BURLINGTON — Mr. John  C. Peeler , 84, of 3231 South Church Street, Burlington, died at the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell on Tueday, November 22, 2005, at 2:25 p.m. after a brief illness.

    A native of Davidson County, he was the husband of the late Mable Somers Peeler  and the son of Dr. John  Calvin Peeler  and Sallie Roxanna Holshouser Peeler , both deceased.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army 100th Infantry Division. He retired from the lumber business and was an active member of St. Mark’s Reformed Church.

    Survivors include two sons, Mr. Stephen Peeler  of Summerfield and Dr. Thomas Peeler  and wife, Margaret of Selinsgrove, Pa.; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Peeler , Jennifer Peeler , Charles Peeler , Julianne Peeler  and James Peeler ; four sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Sherrill of Granite Falls, Mrs. Sarah Bracewell of Hickory, Mrs. Margaret Kesler of Decatur, Ga., and Mrs. Betty Bryan of Greensboro; and two brothers, Mr. James D. Peeler  and Mr. R. Carroll Peeler , both of Burlington.

    He was preceded in death by four sisters, Mrs. Willie Sullivan, Mrs. Lois Robinson, Mrs. Charlotte Coffey and Mrs. Mary Stirewalt; and one brother, Mr. Leidy Y. Peeler .
    
The funeral will be conducted at the Atrium of St. Mark’s Reformed Church on Friday, November 25, 2005, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Robert M. Disher Jr.

The burial will follow the service in St. Mark’s Church cemetery.

    The family will greet friends at the residence after the service. The body will remain at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington until time to be taken to the church for the service.
