Walter  S. Cook  Jr.


GIBSONVILLE — Walter  S. Cook  Jr., 53, of 7982 Troxler Mill Road, died on Monday, April 23, 2007, at UNC Hospitals after one year of declining health.

He was born in Rockingham County, son of the late Walter  S. Cook  Sr. and Mable T. Cook , who survives, and was married to Lisa Summers Cook .

Walter  was the owner and operator of Walter Cook  and Company for over 30 years, a decal application company, where a lot of his work was devoted to NASCAR. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing pool, and was a member of the American Pool Association. Walter  was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, and leaves behind a lifetime of loving friends.

He is survived by his wife of the home; daughter and son-inlaw, Wendy and Marcus Woolard of Browns Summit; sons, Kyle Cook  of the home and Kevin Cook  of Burlington; grandchildren, Summer Woolard, Briana Cook  and Kailyn Cook ; mother of Browns Summit; sisters, Peggy Trent of Browns Summit and Linda Windsor of Reidsville; brotherin-law, Ervin "Bubba" Summers and his wife, LueAnn, of Reidsville; sister-in-law, Debbie Wilson and her husband, Mark, of Eden. He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Clyde Cook .

The graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Apple’s Chapel Christian Church Cemetery by the Rev. C. Allen Myers III, and the Rev. Ron Moore.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, and other times at the home.
