Gary Lane Doss
Gary Lane Doss, 70, passed away peacefully at UNC Health Rockingham, surrounded by his family on December 1, 2022.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 5th at 2:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Templeton officiating. Burial will follow at Reidlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Sunday, December 4th at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Gary was born in Reidsville to the late Henry and Margaret Doss. He graduated Reidsville High School before serving in the US Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked at The American Tobacco Company for over 30 years. He enjoyed spending time working outside and working in his garden. He loved fishing and spending time at White Lake. He especially loved beagles and had many over the years. He loved spending time with his friends “shooting the breeze” at Short Sugars and Many other local restaurants daily. He loved his wife, Vickie of 33 years dearly. His daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apple of his eye.
Along with his parents, he is proceeded in death by his brother Wayne Doss.
He is survived by his wife Vickie; Daughter, Gwen Garrett (Tim); Grandchildren, Tabbatha Yates (Tyler), Ashleigh Holbrook (Devon), TJ Garrett and Abigail Garrett; Great grandchildren, Ella, Abel, Axel and Waylon; along with special friend Reid Sheffield.
The family would like to give a special thanks Hagan Pace, April Powell and all staff in the ICU at UNC Rockingham.
