KELLY DEAN METCALF
Kelly Dean Metcalf, 83, of Conover, N.C. died on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Catawba Regional Hospice House in Newton, N.C.
Born June 14, 1931 in Madison County, N.C., he was the son of the late Dosser Ellis Metcalf and Bonnie English Metcalf.
He was a member of Winkler Grove Baptist Church and a retired truck driver. Kelly was a wonderful man and enjoyed telling a great story. When he would walk into a room, Kelly just brought it to life and usually followed in laughter. Kelly was a very generous and giving person; he would give you the shirt off his back. His greatest passion though was his grandchildren. He enjoyed each day and lived life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Doris Fletcher, Laura Metcalf, and June Orr; brothers, Ellis Metcalf, Lattie Metcalf and Vaughn Metcalf.
He was survived by a son, Todd Crawford Metcalf and wife Melissa of Granite Fall, N.C.; daughter, Sonya Taylor; brother, R.D. Metcalf of Mars Hill, N.C.; sisters, Teddi Kiser and Sharon Metcalf, both of Maiden, N.C.; five grandchildren, Christopher Metcalf, Caitlin England, Noah Metcalf, Jordan Rayfield, and Josh Rayfield.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, January 12, 2015 at Winkler's Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Faulkenberry and Rev. Paul Deal officiating.
