Fushia "Dell" English was born to Fate and Lula Shook English in Madison County, NC on July 29, 1919.
The family consisted of ten children: Bonnie, Dell, Maude, Lois, Callie Kate, Robbie, and Glenn, Ernest, Vaughn, and Vance.
As the eldest girl still at home, after her sister Bonnie left home, she was responsible for the younger siblings and was everybody's "mother" all her life.
She fit the role perfectly, as she was everyone's second mother.
A kind, maternal woman, Dell loved God, her family, and just about everybody she ever met. She cared for a handicapped daughter for most of her years, and did not resent it in the least.
She died only a few years after her daughter's death, perhaps partially due to a broken heart. We all love and miss her greatly. Surviving is another daughter, Irene Crawford Parris of Leicester, NC.
