Mollie S. Whitt, 95, of 381 Lower Ponder branch Rd., died Monday, July 16, 2012 at her residence.
Mrs. Whitt was a lifelong resident of Madison County and the daughter of the late Sylvanus and Rhoda Sprinkle Shook.
Mollie was the oldest member of Laurel Bend Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by husband Chalmers Whitt, Sisters Dollie Carver, Ester Davis, Vertie Honeycutt and Grace Riddle and Brother Foch Shook.
Ms. Whitt is survived by daughters Freda Buckner, Hattie Haney and husband Jerry all of Weaverville, Karen Stines and husband Bill of Mars Hill; sons Bascom Whitt and wife Mary, Conley Whitt, Bennie Whitt and wife Christine all of Mars Hill, sisters Burdea Ray and Gwendolyn English; 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews and many special friends.
A Graveside Service will be held 11:00am, Thursday, July 19 at Shook Cemetery. Rev. Darryl Shelton will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00pm Wednesday, July 18 at Blue Ridge Funeral Service. 470, Mollie Shook Whitt
