Obituary Online notes for “Bill” SMSGT William Vaughn GRINDSTAFF
Mr. Grindstaff from Madison County where he had lived most of his life. He was a resident of Weaverville, Buncombe County, for the past 8 years and was a retired insurance agent. He had proudly served in and retired from the US Air Force. He was a dedicated member of California Creek Baptist Church, Mars Hill. His parents, William Jackson and Cilla English Grindstaff as well as five siblings preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Melba Honeycutt Grindstaff; sons, William Grindstaff, Jr. and "special friend" Kate Henderson of Asheville, and Vince Grindstaff of Atlanta, GA; step son, Dana Louis Snyder and wife Lana of Winder, GA; sisters, Irene Blankenship of Asheville and Clella Delany of Weaverville; one grandchild Levi Grindstaff and wife Kaycie and three step grandchildren, Windsor Creech and husband Doug, Jobie-Leigh Snyder and Charlie-Len Snyder.

SMSgt Grindstaff served from 1955-1978. His awards and medals that I know of are:
