Obituary Online notes for Charles Eugene WRENN
Charles Eugene Wrenn, 84, of Charleston, the husband of Mary Delores Irwin Wrenn, entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 4, 2005, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Wrenn was born June 12, 1921 in Greensboro, N.C. , the son of the late Earl Forest Wrenn and Hallie Hutchinson Wrenn.

A graduate of Sumner High School in Greensboro, N.C. , he received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from The Citadel, Class of 1958.

Mr Wrenn, a retired engineer from the Naval Electronics Command, was a World War II veteran of the United States Coast Guard serving on the USS Dearborn and a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War serving on the USS Calvert. Mr. Wrenn was awarded the America Area Medal, European Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal, China Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal.

Mr. Wrenn was a member of Nativity Roman Catholic Church and served as one of the first Lay Eucharistic Ministers. Additionally, he served on the Building Committee for the Rectory and Nativity Church and various other church committees.

He was a Life Member of the Association of Citadel Men, the Knights of Columbus # 704, and the Fourth Degree. Mr. Wrenn was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 242, the American Legion Post 147 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars #445.

He was an avid golfer and member of the Stono Golf Club, the Leisure Club of Nativity Church and the Senior Citizens Coalition.

Mr. Wrenn, affectionately known as Charlie to his friends and Chuck to his family was predeceased by his sister, Margaret W. Anderson.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Delores Irwin Wrenn of Charleston, and family members Lillie Crouch, Shirley Hanlon, Charlotte and Ronald E. Hanna, Sr., Jack & Frances Blanchard Fry, Eugene and Dera Irwin, George and Beaulah Irwin. Nieces and nephews Forrest Anderson, George E. Irwin Jr., Michael Irwin, Cheryl Miller, Betty Crouch, Patsy Klipfel, Dr. Eugene Crouch, Susan Swain, Rebecca Green, Eugene Irwin Jr., Ronald E. Hanna Jr., William Hanna, Martha Burns, Lori Campbell, Lillie Aquino, Lisa Hiem, Linda Routch, Laura Brockenbrough, Katherine Turrisi, Theresa Ashley, Patricia Crocker, Sandra Brewer, Cindy Suggs, Steven Blanchard, Susan Embrose, Brian Blanchard, Jack Blanchard, Anne Hilton, John Irwin, Janet Mubrow, and sixty-three great nephews and nieces.

A debt of gratitude is owed to Dr. Austin Ball and his staff for their excellent care of Chuck throughout the years enabling us to share many good years with him. The family would also like to thank Hospice of Charleston for their compassionate care and support of Chuck in his final days.

A Memorial may be sent to the Father Maher Building Fund, Church of the Nativity, 1061 Folly road, Charleston, SC 29412 or to Hospice of Charleston, 3870 Leeds Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29405. The family will be receiving friends between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM ,today, November 6, 2005 at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 7, 2005 at Nativity Catholic Church, 1061 Folly Road. The Rite of Committal will be at Holy Cross Cemetery on Fort Johnson Road. Arrangements are by JAMES A. MCALISTER, INC., 766-1365.
