Obituary Online notes for “Bobby” Robert David STARR
Robert "Bob" Starr, 88, of Greensboro, passed away on Friday, June 2nd, after a life fully lived.
The son of Charles Starr and Moss Gilliam, he is survived by his wife Barbara "Bobbie" Stubblefield Starr; 6 children: David (Michaelle), John (Melanie), Cindy (Bob Komsa, deceased), Brett (Melissa, deceased), Hygie (Ben Owens), and Dixie (Steve Halberstadt); 10 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Bob was a hard-working entrepreneur with a variety of successful ventures. In high school, he started a newspaper route, reliably delivering for 38 years. In college, he founded Piedmont Drag Strip, becoming an East Coast Drag Racing Hall of Fame member for his impact on the industry. In his 30s, he established Starr Ice and remained its owner/operator until his death. Over the years, he was also an auctioneer, real estate broker, and laundromat owner.
He was partners in business and in life with his wife of 69 years, working well together through the years. In one of his many notes to her, he wrote that like a Timex, their marriage took a licking and kept on ticking, and like the Energizer Bunny, he hoped it would keep going and going.

Flowers welcome or donations may be made in his honor to the Alzheimer's Association or the charity of your choice. 470, Robert David Starr
