Betty Jean Barnes Apple

Betty Barnes Apple, a beloved member of our community, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.

A native of Guilford County, she was born on December 1, 1932, to the late Charlie Herman Barnes and Sallie Louise Webster Barnes.

She was married to the late Lewis Edward Apple, Sr., for 55 years.

Betty’s remarkable career spanned over 55 years at Cone Mills, where she dedicated herself as a scheduler in the Dye House. She left an indelible mark on the company and its employees.
In her free time, Betty enjoyed cooking and being with her family. She was an avid reader; she loved to walk and was a devoted follower of her faith.

Betty’s legacy lives on through her loving family.

She is survived by her daughter, Marie Apple; her son, Lewis Apple, Jr. (Stephanie), Paul Apple; and her grandchildren, Ashley, and Brian (Victoria). She also is survived by her sisters and a brother.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any memorials or donations made in Betty’s memory to AuthoraCare, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215 or to AuthoraCare.org.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The service will be officiated by Rev. Reid Dickens. To send condolences online, please visit www.lowefuneralhome.com. 256, Betty Jean Barnes Apple
