In Loving Memory of Monte Lee Hinton Tickle Aug. 25, 1932 – June 23, 2025
With broken hearts and profound love, our family shares the news of the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Friend. Monte, who left this world on June 23, 2025 at the age of 92. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her warmth, kindness and strength will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Born on August 25,1932 in Guilford County, Monte lived a life full of love, kindness, and grace. She gave endlessly of her heart, always putting others before herself, and leaving behind a legacy of compassion and warmth that will live on in everyone who knew her. She was always a loving mom first but retired from the United States Post Office.
To know Monte was to be embraced by a rare kind of light. As a member of Brightwood Christian Church, she had a gift for making others feel seen, heard, and deeply loved. Whether through her quiet wisdom, heartfelt laughter, or gentle presence, Monte had a way of making the world softer and more beautiful.
Known for her beautiful smile, gentle spirit and fierce loyalty, Monte touched all of our lives. She taught us how to laugh often, and face life's challenges with quiet courage. Whether she was baking her famous “chocolate cake” and mailing it across the country for her grandson's birthday, working in her beloved flower beds, telling stories from the “old days”, or simply blowing you a kiss from her porch as you drove away, she made every moment feel like home. She was the absolute heart of our family, the steady hand, the warm hug on a hard day, the voice of encouragement in times of doubt. She taught us the true meaning of love, not just through words but through the way she lived—kindly, selflessly, and always with love.
Monte is survived by her 4 children. Sherry Field of Gibsonville, Lynn and Wade Cobb of Burlington, Jack and Joan Tickle of Hickory and Denise and Kenneth Clark of Graham. She also has 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren who will carry her memory in every beat of their hearts. Monte now joins her husband Burley Tickle, her parents Jacob A. and Lucille Trogdon Hinton, her sister Mary Hinton, her 4 brothers, Hal Hinton, Joe Hinton, George Hinton and Jimmy Hinton; her granddaughter Monte Markley and great grandson James Markley whose arms we know are open to welcome her home.
We will gather to celebrate Monte’s life on Saturday June 28, 2025 at Brightwood Christian Church in Gibsonville, NC. Visitation begins at 1:00 pm. The service starts at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow the service held in the church cemetery. All who loved her are warmly invited to join us in remembering and honoring the life of someone so deeply treasured. The family will also receive friends and visitors following the service at 603 Wildwood Lane, Graham, North Carolina 27253.
Though she may no longer walk beside us, Monte’s love will forever guide us. We were blessed to have her in our lives—and we will carry that blessing with us, always.
Rest softly now, Nanny Tickle. You’ve earned your peace. Thank you for always loving us so completely. We will miss you everyday, and we will love you forever.
