Mrs. Monroe was born Aug. 21, 1930, at Cushing, OK, to Fred and Mae Caruthers Mathes.
She lived in Geneseo for 65 yrs.
She was a retired rehabilitation aide at the Lyons Good Samaritan Center and a member of the Church of the Nazarene also at Lyons.
She married Raymond E. Monroe Sep. 6, 1947, at Lyons.
He died Feb.24, 2006.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie L. Williams; a son Michael Monroe: two sisters, Freda Ploutz and Carol Cramsey; and a grandson, Nicholas Elstun.
Survivors include two sons, David L. Monroe (Barbara) of Blakeslee, PA and Douglas J. Monroe of Geneseo, a daughter Susan F. (Richard)Elstun of Lyons, two sisters Shirley Koehn of McPherson and Karen Stead of Slidell, LA;15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. 470, Marilee Mathes Monroe
