Peggy Zimmerman Horne, 72, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 7, 2010 at Duke University Hospital in Durham.
A native of Alamance County, she was the beloved wife of the late John S. Horne. She was preceded in death by her parents H. Herman and Thelma T. Zimmerman, sister Tessie Taylor, and brother-in-law D. Wayne Taylor. She was a devoted member of Shallow Ford Christian Church. She graduated from Elon College as valedictorian. She was retired from Carolina Biological Supply Company. Among her many passions was volunteering in the service of others.
She is survived by two daughters, Catherine Horne DeWitt (Steve) of Raleigh and Kimberly Horne Webb (David) of Burlington; a son, Kerry Horne of Amsterdam, NL; grandsons, Christopher DeWitt, Brian DeWitt and Timothy Arnold; niece, Barbara Taylor; nephew, Tom Taylor; Brother-in-law, Bob Horne and wife Jo; nephew, Jim Horne; niece, Susan Horne.
A memorial service will be held at Shallow Ford Christian Church in Elon at noon on Saturday, June 12. Officiating will be the Reverend Susan Perry. Family visitation will follow immediately in the fellowship hall.
