KEITER, Charles David 98, Xenia, passed away Monday afternoon, Greene Memorial Hospital. September 23, 2002.

Born on September 3, 1904 in New Jasper Township, Greene County, the son of Alva P. and Pearl McPherson Keiter.

He graduated from Xenia Central High School, Miami Jacobs College, attended night school in accounting and income tax at YMCA schools, Dayton (Sinclair Community College), employed in the office of the Hoefler Stocklein Dayton, for 50 years, member of Memorial United Church of Christ, 50 years, formerly Memorial Reformed Church, member of St. Johns Lodge F. A. Dayton, since June 7, 1930, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, 32nd Degree Mason, member of the Wayne Grange, Huber Heights, Greene County Historical Society, honorary Deputy Sheriff, under Russell Bradley, producer of maple syrup, 62 years, member of the OMPA (Ohio Maple Producers Association) presented with the first Charles Keiter Lifetime Achievement Award for recognition of his support and significant contributions as a quality producer of maple. He recently won four grand prizes at the Ohio State Fair in all three grades of pure maple syrup, light, medium and dark amber.

He married Thelma E. Freese on June 16, 1927 and she preceded him in death on July 27, 1985.

He is survived by niece and nephew, Patricia and Curtis W. Huber, Xenia, and a nephew and niece, Dale and Bonnie Keiter, Ft. Myers, and special friends, Gary and Karen Brown, John Bickett, Steve and Nancy May, Mike and Jan Lemar.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law; Clarence and Polly Keiter.

Graveside services will be held at 10am Thursday, September 26, Woodland Cemetery, Xenia, with Rev. Edward E. Smith officiating. There will be no visitation.
Contributions may be made to the Memorial United Church of Christ, 2338 E. 5 5th Dayton, Neeld Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
