She graduated from Bartlett Yancey Senior High School in 1967.
Judy has two biological children with James W. Whitlow of Leasburg, NC; Shannon Walker of Yanceyville, NC currently employed by the Department of Public Safety, Caswell Correctional Center and TJ Whitlow, of Fayetteville, NC, United States Army Retired, and currently employed as a Department of Defense Contractor.

Judy Poythress Obituary
Judy Reynolds Poythress died peacefully surrounded by her family at Edgewood Place at the village at Brookwood in Burlington, N.C., at the age of 68.
Judy is survived by her husband, Michael Keith Poythress; children, Shannon Walker and Thomas "TJ" Whitlow; step children, Tammy Poythress, Michael Poythress, Robin Poythress and Jason Poythress; and siblings, Joey Reynolds, brother, of Concord, N.C., and Mike Reynolds, brother, of Danville, Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Irene Reynolds of Yanceyville, N.C.; and Jeff Reynolds, brother, of Elon, N.C.
Judy was born on June 24, 1949, in Danville, Va., to Joe and Irene Reynolds.
She graduated from Bartlett Yancey Senior High School in 1967. She began working for the Tastee Freeze in Yanceyville and 35 years later retired as the owner of Joe's Charcoal Burger.
Judy has two biological children with James W. Whitlow of Leasburg, N.C., Shannon Walker of Yanceyville, N.C. currently employed by the Department of Public Safety, Caswell Correctional Center and TJ Whitlow of Fayetteville, N.C., United States Army Retired, and currently employed as a Department of Defense Contractor.
Judy has four grandchildren, Audrey L. Simmons, Kirsten "Kiki" N. Walker, Wesley J. "Wes" Whitlow and Zachary T. "Zac" Whitlow.
Her children remember her as a kind and determined mother who put the needs of her children first and encouraged them pursue their goals. Judy was an accomplished business owner and a experienced Food Service Professional and continued in the industry as an employee at the Dillard Middle School Cafeteria and Food Service Director at the Cherokee Scout Reservation. She was a dedicated individual who loved playing Rook, visits with friends and passionate about her grandchildren. She was a member of Mebane Street Church of Christ in Burlington, N.C., and often played cards with friends at the Caswell County Senior Citizens Center. Judy loved seeing everyone over the years and Joe's and her passion for serving her community and her family will live on as her legacy.
A family visitation service will take place on Saturday, November 4, 2017, from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at Harrelson's Funeral Home, 143 Third Ave., Yanceyville, North Carolina. A remembrance service will follow on Sunday, November 5, 2017, at 3 p.m. to celebrate Judy's life. Minister Terry Rikard and Pastor Michael Adams will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend to remember and celebrate Judy's life with us and the lasting impact she made on the community.
Condolences may be mailed to 564 Hatchett Road, Yanceyville, NC 27379. In lieu of flowers, our family requests donations to the following charities: St Jude's Children's Medical Center, The Wounded Warrior Foundation and the Cherokee Scout Reservation.
