Charlie Abram Wright
February 20, 1926 — October 30, 2019
Burlington – Charlie Abram Wright, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Alamance Regional Medical Center following a short illness.
A native of Caswell County, he was born February 20, 1926 to the late Thomas Stroud and Annie Rainey Wright and was the husband of the late Helen McCann Wright.
Charlie was a US Navy WWII Veteran.
He was the Owner/Operator of Boston Cleaners where he retired and later served for over 15 years at Dick Shirley Chevrolet.
Charlie was of the Presbyterian faith and was an honorary lifetime member of the former Westview Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher and trustee. He was also a lifetime member and Melvin Jones Fellow of the Burlington Lions Club.
More than his life accomplishments, he was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his daughters, Nancy (Ken) Ruh of Heathsville, VA, Susan (Mike) Melton of Mooresville, NC and Becky (John) Cole of Burlington; son, David (Susan) Wright of Burlington; four grandsons, four granddaughters, three great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters; brothers, Larry and Rufus Wright; sisters, Edna (Calvin) Faircloth, Hazel Thomas and Ann Maynard.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents; sister, Frances Petty and brothers, Wilbur, Ed, Alfred and Carl Wright.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. John Johnson with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 -1:45 prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Burlington Lions Club or to the charity of your choice.

Helen McCann Wright passed away Sunday January 16, 2011 at Alamance Regional Medical Center following several years of declining health.
A native of Caswell County she was the daughter of the late Willie James and Alma Harris McCann and wife of Charlie Abram Wright who survives.
Helen was retired secretary-treasurer and bookkeeper of Boston Cleaners, Inc.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include daughters: Nancy (Ken) Ruh of Harrisonburg, VA, Susan (Mike) Melton of Huntersville, NC and Becky (John) Cole of Burlington, NC; son: David (Susan) Wright of Burlington, NC; 4 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, 1 great grandson and 2 great granddaughters; brothers: James McCann of Yadkinville, NC, Willie J. McCann, Jr. of Burlington, NC, Harris McCann of Centerville, Utah and Gary McCann of Rock Hill, SC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Thomas McCann.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday January 19, 2011 at 2:00 P. M. at Westminster Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. Powell Sykes. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall from 12:00 to 1:45 P.M. Wednesday prior to the service and at other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1126 West Webb Avenue, Burlington, NC 27215 or to Western Carolina Chapter Alzheimer's Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, # 999, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220. The family wishes to express appreciation to the staff and management of White Oak Manor of Burlington, and her attending nurses and physicians at ARMC for the thoughtful and considerate care they extended to Helen during her illness.
