Dorothy Oakley Obituary

Dorothy Boone Oakley, 82, of Cedar Grove, passed peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011 at her home.

A native of Orange County, she was the wife of the late Henry Thomas Oakley and the daughter of the late Luther and Annie Boone.

She was a homemaker and retired from GE and was a faithful member and servant of Lee Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Suzette Andrews and husband, Mike, of Cedar Grove; a son, Henry Lee Oakley and wife, Sherry, of Prospect Hill; one sister, Nell Blevins and husband, Bob, of Winston Salem; five grandchildren, Jennifer Nichols, Jessica Nichols, Jocelyn Nichols, Andrew Oakley and Rebecca Oakley.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Compton.

The family wishes to thank her wonderful caregivers, Maria Jimenez and Ann Whitted, for their excellent care and friendship.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Lea Bethel Baptist Church in Prospect Hill by the Rev. Claude Harrelson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Buddy Solomon, Jeff Oakley, John Tatum, Tommy Solomon, Tim Solomon, Tom Oakley, Al Oakley and Ronnie Lunsford.

The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane, 1308 South Third St, Mebane, NC 27302 from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday and at other times at the home of her daughter, Suzette Andrews, 500 Old Farm Lane, Cedar Grove.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lea Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Helen Lunsford, 1378 Ridgeville Road, Prospect Hill, NC 27314
