BURLINGTON - Mr. Roy Allen Hicks, 88, a former resident of Woodale Drive, Elon, died at Alamance Healthcare Center on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014.
A native of Prospect Hill, he was the husband of the late Margaret Jobe Hicks and the son of Lester Otha Hicks and Effie Jane Nelson Hicks, both deceased.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired technician from Chisholm Heating and Air Contractors. He was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Elon.
Survivors include two brothers, Robert Otha Hicks of Yanceyville and Rainey F. Hicks of Durham; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Thomas Hicks.
The funeral service will be conducted at the First Baptist Church of Elon on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, at 11 a.m. by Dr. Mason Fuller Smith and the Rev. David Durham with the family receiving friends from 10:15 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Elon, P.O. Box 515, Elon, NC 27244.
