Married (1) Linnie Angeline Facemire in Terre Haute, Indiana on 25 June 1895 while both were students at Indiana Normal School. (Linnie's mother, Amanda Facemire, died 5 August 1947 and is buried in this cemetery too).
Charles graduated from the Chiropractic College of California in 1909 with a Doctorate of Chiropractic (D.C.) and received a Doctorate of Naturopathy on 1 March 1909 from the Association of Naturopathic Physicians of California. Graduate of California University of Liberal Physicians.
Divorced 1925 with Linnie getting the LACC.
Founder, 1925, Cale College of Naturopathy (later the California College of Natural Healing Arts) and the Cale College of Chiropractic (later Southern California College of Chiropractic).
All three schools would later merge into Los Angeles College of Chiropractic.
Married (2) Astrid Wetteland Reed on 16 March 1929 in Los Angeles.
She was shot and killed by her son-in-law Anthony Speros on 31 December 1935, as was Imogene Reed Speros (her daughter and his wife).
Both were cremated and are inurned together at Inglewood Park Cemetery (niche C, Section K-109).
Charles died in Los Angeles on 27 March 1938.
The Los Angeles College of Chiropractic remains one of the largest colleges in that profession in the world.

Dr. Brian A. Smith, author of a biography of Dr. Cale (Chiropractic History, 25:1, 2005) discovered grave to be unmarked in 1999. The stone was purchased by the Alumni Association of the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic and installed in 2004. [55871]
