Mrs. Shirley Lowery Tate

ELON COLLEGE — Mrs. Shirley Lowery Tate, 86, of 2484 Ossipee Front St., died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville after a brief illness.

A native of Davie County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Burley Booe and Mrs. Claude R. Tate Sr., both deceased.

She was the daughter of Mr. Cyrus Watson Lowery and Mrs. Elvira Richardson Lowery, both deceased.

She was a member of Berea Christian Church and was retired from Monarch Hosiery Mill.

Survivors include two sons, Mr. Bill Booe of Ossipee and Mr. Claude Tate Jr. of Asheboro; a brother, Mr. Johnny Lowery Sr. of Mocksville; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Kenneth Wayne Booe and an infant brother, Cyrus Lowery Jr.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Berea Christian Church by the Rev. Bland Leebrick Jr., pastor. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Eatons Baptist Church cemetery in Cana. The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 to 7 this evening.
