Mr. James Carson Huffman
BURLINGTON — Mr. James Carson Huffman, 91, of Burlington, passed away at his residence on Saturday, May 9, 2015.
A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of the late Mary Shoffner Huffman and son of the late Jacob Raymond Huffman and Minnie Phillippie Huffman. Carson was retired from Lorillard after 29 years service. He was a lifelong active member of Low’s Lutheran Church and a former E.M. Holt Volunteer Fireman. He was a member of the Wendy’s Bunch and an avid gardener known for his German Johnson tomatoes. His hobbies included woodworking, fishing, square dancing and going to the Barn Dance in Julian.
Surviving are two daughters, Janie Sulecki and husband Richard of Burlington and Treva Hornaday and husband Terry of Liberty; four grandchildren, Bradley Sulecki and wife Kim, Emily Sulecki and husband Chris, Traci Hornaday, and Tamara DiGiorgio and husband Ian; great granddaughter, Molly; sister and brother-in-law Georgia and Taylor Anthony of Fuquay-Varina; sister-inlaw, Nellie Shoffner of Burlington; and a special friend, Joyce Staley.
Carson was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Huffman Flinchum and a brother, John Harvey Huffman.
Funeral
services will be held at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, May 12, at Low’s Lutheran
Church with The Rev. John Mark Beam officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral & Cremation Service in Burlington from 6-8 PM Monday evening. At other times they will be at the residence of a grandson, Bradley Sulecki.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell and to the staff of Wendy’s for their care and compassion.
