Decala Morene Pike, 80, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 19, 2022 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her family.

She was born on November 14, 1942 in Alamance County to the late Lewis Henson Morene, Sr. and Lula Elizabeth Atkins Morene.

Decala was the wife of 60 plus years to Gary Leon Pike who survives.

She retired after 20 years as a merchandiser with American Greeting Cards. Decala was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for over 45 years, where she enjoyed singing with the Guiding Light and volunteering with the Monday Mornings Ladies Visitation Group. She loved bowling and was on a bowling league for many years.

Survivors other than her husband, Gary Pike include her daughters, Donna Pike Crawford and husband Allen, Judy Pike Whitesell and husband Kendall, and Tracy Pike; grandchildren, Alyssa Whaley and husband Shannon, Ashley Elizabeth Crawford, Alan Whitesell and fiancé, Christina Johnson, Lisa Sturgiss and husband Charles, and Troy Whitesell; great grandchildren, Kasidy, Abby, Gabby and Becca; sister, Verna Flowers; brothers, Howard Morene, Rev. Billy Morene and wife Lorene, Jerry Morene and wife Melinda; and several nieces and nephews. 

Decala was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Wanda Morene and brothers, Rev. Lewis Henson Morene, Jr., Henry Hardy Morene and Joe Jackson Morene.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Tabernacle Baptist Church by Rev. Norman Fargis and Rev. Billy Morene with the burial to follow in Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm to 1:45pm Wednesday at the church prior to the service.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and nurses at the Hospice Home for their loving care and compassion that was shown to Decala during her illness.
