PFC Lawrence Barber Coleman Jr, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Durham, NC.
Private First Class Lawrence Barber Coleman Jr was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army, PFC Coleman served our country until August 13th, 1971 in Dinh Tuong, South Vietnam. He was 25 years old and was married. It was reported that Lawrence died from small arms fire or grenade. His body was recovered. PFC Coleman is on panel 03W, line 131 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. he served our country for 6 years.
PFC Coleman, Lawrence Barber, Jr. Private First Class, United States Army, died August 13, 1971 in Vietnam when the truck he was driving was ambushed by hostile forces. Pfc Coleman, age 25, was the husband of Mrs. Mary Helen Brown Coleman of Gibsonville and the son of Lawrence B. Coleman, Sr. of Ingle Street and Mrs Gladys Hall Coleman, also of Burlington. At the time of his death, Pfc. Coleman had been in the military for 6 years and was serving with the 34th Engineering Battalion on his second tour of duty in Vietnam. In addition to his parents and his wife, Pfc. Coleman is survived by 3 children--Bonnie, Crystal, and Billy--one sister, one half-sister, and his paternal grandmother Mrs. Ola B. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Lawrence B. Coleman Sr of Ingle Street and Mrs Gladys Hall Coleman, also of Burlington; and the Husband of Mrs. Mary Helen Brown Coleman of Gibsonville.
He served with Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 34th Engineering Battalion, USA Engineering Command, USARV.
