Mrs. Elzora Barber “Jack” Winn

ELON — Mrs. Elzora Barber “Jack” Winn, 91 of 2711 Laundry Rd. died Tuesday, October 1, 2002 at The Hospice Home after a short illness.

She was a native of Alamance County, the wife of the late Willard Hugh “Piggie” Winn and the daughter of the late James Franklin Barber and the late Ludora Troxler Barber.

She graduated from Altamahaw-Ossipee High School in 1929 and retired from Burlington Industries after 40 years of service. She was an active member of Berea Christian Church for 72 years.

She is survived by daughters; Jeanette Jones and her husband Jack of Black Mountain and June Sellars and her husband Pat of Burlington, 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by sisters; Ola Coleman, Rosa Anderson, Annie Kizziah, Ruth Thompson and Sallie Sartin, brothers; Odell Barber, George Barber, Robert “Buck” Barber and Hoyle Barber.

The funeral will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at Berea Christian Church by Rev. Bland Leebrick and Rev. Dr. Robert Barrows. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6-8 this evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Winn will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service to lie in state. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, PO Box 2122, Burlington, NC 27216.3, Mrs. Elzora Barber “Jack” Winn
