Obituary Online notes for Wayne Hubert KOONCE Jr.
Funeral services for Wayne Koonce, 77, of Gore Springs, were today at Garner-Harper Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial followed in the Gore Springs Cemetery.
Visitation was today at the funeral home.
Mr. Koonce died May 24, 2008, at his home.
He was born September 14, 1930, to Wayne H. Sr. and Lucille Miers Koonce in Grenada County.
Mr. Koonce was a retired truck driver, a member of Providence Baptist Church, the Grenada Lake Camping Club, and was a Korean Conflict Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Trussell Koonce; a son, Wayne H. Koonce III of Calif.; four daughters, Velma K. Wagoner (Norman) of Burlington, N.C., Mary K. Sturzenbecker (Jim) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Peggy K. Hopkins (Kenny) of Efland, N.C., and Lou Ann K. Wagoner (Darin) of Efland, N.C.; three step-daughters, Sue T. Fly (Fletcher) of Coffeeville, Sallie T. Carpenter (James Henry) of Grenada, and Sherri T. Riddick (Hank) of Inverness; one sister, Lou Lesley-Cummins of Monroeville, Ala.; 18 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.
Garner Harper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jacqueline “Jackie” Paulson (Koonce) Moore
EFLAND — Mrs. Jacqueline “Jackie” Paulson (Koonce) Moore, 81, of Efland, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at the Hospice Home of Alamance.
Mrs. Moore was born on Jan. 22, 1931, in New York. She was the daughter of the late John W. and Alice Stewart Paulson and wife of the late James Henry Moore. She was retired from Gold Toe, was a homemaker and a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Velma K. (Lutterloh) Wagoner and husband Norman, of Burlington, Mary K. Sturzenbecker and husband James, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Peggy K. (Dudley) Hopkins and husband Kenneth, of Efland, Lou Ann K. (Carson) Wagoner, of Efland; and her son, Sgt. 1st Class Wayne H. Koonce III, of Fort Knox, Ky.; and one sister, Dorothy P. McDaniel of Elkton, Md. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 27 greatgrandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Daniel Lee Hopkins and Faith Sturzenbecker; two great-grandchildren, Kaleb Morgan Curtis and Jackson Gabe Dudley; one brother, Jack Paulson; and two sisters, Adela Ruth and Joan Paulson.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at Walker’s Funeral Home Chapel of Mebane by her grandson Pastor Eric Dudley. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friendsfrom11:45a.m.to12:45 p.m. Thursday before services at Walker’s Funeral Home and other times at the home of Lou Ann Wagoner, 4515 High Rock Road, Efland, NC 27243.
The family wishes to express their love and gratitude to Pamela Flynn for the loving care, encouragement and the help that she gave to their mom in her final days.
