Jean J. Bailey, age 96, of Eaton, OH passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Vancrest of Eaton Health Care Center surrounded by her loving family.
She was born January 26, 1929 in Eaton, OH to the late Raymond and Flora (Kirkhoff) Pence.
Jean was a 1947 graduate of Eaton High School; was a lifelong Preble County resident where she enjoyed farming with her parents, riding her pony and playing with her dog "Joy"; she was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Eaton; and her favorite pastime was reading and spending time with family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Chuck Bailey; daughter Tina Dickerson; sister and brother-in-law Esther and Jack Cornwell; brother and sister-in-law Dale and Julia Pence; nephew Ernie Pence; and son-in-law Don Houser.
She is survived by her daughter Dianna Houser; granddaughters Lisa (Rob) Welcome, Kristin (Kevin) Schamel, Chelsea (Kire) Murtanovski and Liana Dickerson (Tyler Poelking); great grandchildren Jake, Charlie, Jaxon, Annie and Greyson; niece Connie Cornwell; and nephews Dennis (Mary) Pence and John (Able) Cornwell.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 1:30 pm until time of funeral service at 2:00 pm at the Gard Funeral Home, 226 W. Main Street, Eaton, OH. Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton.
The family would like to thank Vancrest Healthcare Center and Hospice of Dayton for the wonderful care they gave to Jean. Memorial contributions may be sent to Grace Lutheran Church, 111 Lutheran Drive, Eaton, OH 45320.
