Fred Lance Younger, Sr.
Fred Lance Younger, Sr., 85, passed away on June 16, 2015. He was a native of Gibsonville, NC and a member of Deep Creek United Methodist Church. He was retired from the US Navy and the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles. He was a fifty year member of Lake Drummond Masonic Lodge #178, served as Master in 1970 and secretary for over forty years. He was an active member of the York Rite Bodies and RCC. He was a volunteer at Scott Center Naval Pharmacy for many years. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ingle Younger; a son, Fred L. Younger, Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Suffolk; six grandchildren, Stephanie Alligood and husband Brian, Matthew Bunch, Shannon Lucas and husband "Drew", April Bullock and husband Jeffrey, Travis Younger and wife Amy and Todd Younger and wife Dianthia; and twelve great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Cynthia Garrett. A funeral service with Masonic rites will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 22, in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Revs. Mike Plaster and Cliff Whitlock. Burial will follow in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in his memory be made to Deep Creek United Methodist Church at 141 N.
