Betty J. Steele, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on May 24, 2019.
Born in Sutton, W. Va., she lived in the Rootstown area prior to moving to Zanesville. Betty's hobbies included gardening and cooking. She enjoyed working with kids and was an animal lover, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; son, Dale; sister, Helen Stewart; and brother, Charles Lively, Betty is survived by her daughter, Tami (Ted) Mohan; daughter-in-law, Patricia Steele; brother, Robert Mahala Lively; sister, Mary Rollie Neal; and special friends, Ronda and Rusty Bruce, and Christopher and Libby Bruce.
Family and friends will be received Monday, May 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral service will held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28 at the funeral home with Rev. Richard W. Ferris officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna. The family suggests memorials to Genesis Hospice Care, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, OH 43701-9836.

Born in Millwood, West Virginia, Herbert lived in the Rootstown area most of his life.
He was employed with W.L. Tuckers as a yardman for 22 years before retiring in 1997.
Preceded in death by his son, Dale; and sister, Mary King.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years of marriage, Betty J.; daughter, Tami (Ted) Mohan of Zanesville; brothers, Hubert (Janet) of Ravenna, Howard (Mary Lou) of Ravenna and Herman (Pat) of Akron; sister, Emogene (Oscar) Whittington of Rootstown.
Funeral service Friday, 10:30 a.m., at Hopkins Lawver MOGADORE Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland Ave. (Rt. 532), with Dr. George Hazlett officiating.
