George W. Ozias, 92, Kansas City North, MO, died April 30, 2002, at Pleasant Valley Nursing Home.
Memorial services will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2002, at Charter Funeral Home North, 77 N.E. 72nd St., Gladstone, MO. Visitation will be 10:30-11:30 a.m. before the service. The family requests no flowers.
George was born February 22, 1910, in Centerview, MO, to Arthur W. and Blanche Seip Ozias.
He graduated from Swarthmore College, Swarthmore, PA, in 1932, and did post graduate work in banking and finance at NYU. He worked for The Hanover Bank in New York City for two years.
George moved to Richmond, MO, in 1935, to help with a family owned business, Calvert Farms, where he acted as the manager from 1935 1946.
He married Wilma Weber of Richmond, MO, September 29, 1936. From 1948 to 1959, he was the distributor of Mobil oil products in the Ray County area.
In 1959, he joined the Exchange Bank of Richmond, MO, where he retired as the Executive Vice President in 1979.
George was active in the Richmond/Ray County community. He was a member and held various offices in the Rotary Club, the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, the Richmond Planning & Zoning Commission and the Richmond School Board. George served on the board of the Boy Scouts of America and worked to charter the present Big Muddy District.
He was an elder in the First Christian Church of Richmond, MO. After retiring in 1979, he moved to Kansas City North, where he lived until the time of his death.
George was a devoted husband and family man. His family includes his wife of 65 years, Wilma Ozias, two daughters and spouses, Georganne and J.D. (deceased) Gorham, Susan and Dean Cox; five grandchildren and spouses, J.D. and Janet Dickson-Gorham, Terre Gorham, Jon and Kim Gorham, Chris Cox, and Andy (deceased) and Jennifer Cox; seven great-grandchildren, Jack Dickson Gorham, David Dickson Gorham, Ian Gorham, Seth Gorham, Brooke Gorham, Ashley Cox and Shelby Cox; two nieces and one nephew, Eleanor Ozias Egan, Esther Ozias Jarrett and Arthur W. Ozias III and their families.
