Blanche Truitt Green, 91, of Burlington died at the Hospice Home on Friday, June 17, 2016.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Shirley Thomas Green and the daughter of Ashton P. Truitt and Vera Richardson Truitt, both deceased.
Mrs. Green was a 1950 graduate of Elon College, and received a Masters Degree from the University of North Texas. She taught elementary education for 28 years.
Survivors include a stepson, William “Bill” Greene, PhD of Sebastian, FL; stepdaughter, Penni G. Praigg of Miami, FL; and four sisters, Helen T. Hicklin of Burlington, Edna T. Noiles of New Canaan, CT, Louise T. Goodell and husband Ken of Burlington and Betty T. Lawrie of Burlington.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, S. Thomas Greene, Jr.; brother, Ashton “Pete” Truitt, Jr.; and sister, Hazel T. Iseley.
A memorial service will be conducted at the First Reformed United Church of Christ, 513 West Front Street, Burlington, NC on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Nora Driver Foust with the family receiving friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Ashton P. and Vera R. Truitt Scholarship, Campus Box 2600, Elon University, Elon, NC 27244 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
