Born in Gibsonville, North Carolina to Cleve and Hazel Thomas. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1952 in VP-22 Squadron. He was in Korean Conflict.
Leon was a specialist for General Dynamics; he worked for Convair 39 and half years. Leon work on the Tomahawk and Ground Launch Cruise Missiles were he received special recognition from the U.S Air Force for dedication to this project.
Leon is survived by his wife Marceline; sons, Richard and James Lee Thomas all of San Diego, Calif; brother, Paul L. Thomas and wife Marie of Gibsonville and his dog, Rescue.
