Obituary Online notes for “Tommy” George Thomas RYDER
Tommy George Ryder, 62, of Hardwood Lane, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at his home after a two-year illness.

The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Second Presbyterian Church, where he was a member, by the Revs. Bea Copeland and Wayne VunCannon. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Mr. Ryder was born Aug. 2, 1942, in Hall County, Ga., to Marvin G. Ryder and Addie Dale Ryder. He was owner-operator of Ryders Specialty Products and served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of American Legion Post 8 and Amvets Post 13.

Survivors include his wife, Lynda Hill Ryder of the home; a son, William Thomas Ryder, now serving in Iraq, and wife, Jennifer, of Lexington; a daughter, Amanda Kirk Wilson of Greensboro; a granddaughter, Jessica Leeann Ryder of Lexington; and five sisters, Lucille Allen, Christine Rowe and Bernice Leonard and husband, Coney, all of Lexington, Juanita Yates and husband, Herbert, of Thomasville, and Hazel VunCannon and husband, the Rev. Wayne VunCannon, of Troy.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and other times at the residence.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, P.O. Box 1941, Lexington 27293, or Second Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 1334, Lexington 27293.
