BURLINGTON — Mr. Lenneous Lee Sutton, 96, of Burlington, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 20, 2012.
A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of Ruby Smith, deceased, and longtime friend, Anna H. Barker, deceased. His parents were Onnie B. Sutton and Mary Ida Payne Sutton.
Survivors include two sons, Riley Lee Sutton (Judy), of Concord, and Michael Glenn Sutton (Donna), of Lutz, Fla.; three daughters, Sue Gurkin (Walter, deceased), of Snow Camp, Mary Ida Stephens (Ron) and Phyllis Fogleman (Max), of Burlington; sisters, Marie Gerringer, of Gibsonville, Alene Warren, of Burlington, and Mary Lou Long, of Clearwater, Fla.; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Stacy Sutton; brothers, the Rev. Tommy Sutton, O.B. Sutton, Garland Sutton and Gilmer Sutton; and sisters, Lillie Brown, Doris Wilhott and Opal Jones.
Sutton, as he was called, was a plumber until age 80. He was a gifted handyman and loved mowing. A member of Peoples Memorial Christian Church, he later attended Baptist Temple and Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church with his daughters.
Friends
are invited to share in a celebration of life at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. The service will be conducted on Monday, January 23, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. John Shields, the Rev. Don Carter and the Rev. Don Pegg, with interment at Alamance Memorial Park.
At other times, the family will make their home on Collinwood Drive.
The family would like to thank all those at Hospice, especially Ludell King and Tricia Campbell and also the nurses and nurses aides at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
