Joseph David "Pa" Cranfill Sr.
GIBSONVILLE — Joseph David "Pa" Cranfill Sr., 78, of 816 Whitsett Street, Gibsonville, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Yadkin County, to Henry and Lois Cockerham Cranfill, both deceased and was married for 55 years to the late Daisy Janette Heath "Ma" Cranfill. "Pa" retired after 32 years of service with the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
Survivors include two sons, David "Crockett" Cranfill Jr. and his wife, Laura, of Pleasant Garden, and Allen "Shorty" Cranfill and his wife, René, of Burlington; three grandchildren, Chris Cranfill and his wife, Brooke, Joy Cranfill and Josh Cranfill; two great-granddaughters, Kayleigh and Addison; a sister, Mary Mize; a brother, Allen Cranfill; and a special friend and neighbor, Joyce Apple.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2008, at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jeff Dodson. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of "Shorty" Cranfill, 2909 Snug Harbor Road, Burlington.
The family would like to express an appreciation to the special friends "Pa" met at Bojangles’ early in the morning and to the staff of Heartland Rehabilitation Center, as well as to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro and their CNAs, especially Pam Peterson.
