Gertrude Moore Johnston

Gertrude Moore Johnston, died on Sunday, October 22, 2017.

Born on June 18, 1925 in Alamance County, she was the daughter of Annie Leigh Ratcliffe Moore and John Thomas Moore, both deceased.

She was a homemaker and a member of 1st Presbyterian Church of Burlington, where she served many years as circle treasurer and treasurer of the Presbyterian Women. Mrs. Johnston was also a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and a member of the Twin Lakes Auxiliary.

Survivors include three children, Terry Johnston (Linda), Michael Johnston, and Annelle Coble (Bill); four grandchildren, Lisa Kirkpatrick, Amanda Johnston, Allison Herbert, and Will Coble; and seven great-grandchildren,
Grace, Claire, and Ladd Kirkpatrick, Nell and Webb Herbert, and Sloan and Harrison Coble.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, David Moore, William Moore, Howard Moore, Lucille Ross, Sallie Pritchett, and Evanell Miller.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2017 in the Mausoleum Chapel at Alamance Memorial Park. Rev. Dr. Norman Whitney will be officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Mausoleum Chapel at Alamance Memorial Park.

The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff of Blakey Hall and the Cottage, Elon, NC, and to the staff of Hospice of Alamance County for their kindness and compassion.

Memorials contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC, 27215.
