Mrs. Mildred Walker Combs
GIBSONVILLE — Mrs. Mildred Walker Combs, 81, of 6288 N.C. 87 North, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a short illness. A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of Mr. James Irvin Combs, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. George W. Walker and Mrs. Annie Sartin Walker, both deceased. She lived in the Matkins Community for 61 years. She was a lifelong member of Camp Springs United Methodist Church. Survivors other than her husband of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Mitzy C. (Cecil) Page of Elon College; a son, Mr. Jerry (Sally) Combs of Elon College; three brothers, Mr. George W. Walker Jr. and Mr. Samuel Walker, both of Reidsville, and Mr. John Mitchell Walker of Ruffin; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ms. Mae W. Hodges and Ms. Rena W. Underwood; and two brothers, Mr. Raymond Walker and Mr. Homer Walker. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Camp Springs United Methodist Church by the Rev. Charles Litzenberger. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at Citty Funeral Home in Reidsville from 6 to 8 this evening and at other times atthe home.
