Mrs. Marion Hoffman York
WHITSETT — Mrs. Marion Hoffman York, 84, formerly of 805 Woodard Drive, completed her service to the Lord and went to be at His side at 2:30 p.m. on January 30, 2003, after seven years of failing health due to the effects of Alzheimer’s disease. Mrs. York was one of 6 children of the late Myron Allen Hoffman and Mary Woodard Hoffman. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ted and Harry Hoffman; sisters, Elsie Slade and Jennie Ingle; son-in-law, Dr. Richard Ross; and granddaughter, Renea Rogers. She was an active member of Holly Hill Baptist Church, and family owner of York’s Photography Studio for 32 years, where her love of art and people were valuable assets to her husband and son in the management of the studio. She was also a member of the Professional Photographers of North Carolina and Professional Photographers of America. She was the loving wife of Wade C. York Jr. and mother of two children, Mrs. Judy Ross of Albemarle and Mr. Craig York of Burlington. She was the sister of Grace Hoffman Clapp. She was the adoring grandmother of 4: Renea and Dr. Todd Rogers, and Brittany and Michael York. Her grandson, Dr. Todd Rogers and his wife, Kim, blessed her with two great-grandchildren, Casey and Lauren Rogers. Mrs. York’s funeral service, seen as a celebration of life, will be held at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home Chapel of Burlington at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 2nd by Rev. Emmett Dupree, pastor of Holly Hill Baptist Church. Interment and commitment to eternal rest will take place at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Rich and Thompson an hour before the service and at Alamance Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of your choice.
