CHINCOTEAGUE, Va. — Mr. John Scott Saunders, 65, of Chincoteague, died
Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, at Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassamadox, Va.
A native of North Carolina, he was the husband of Mrs. Bonnie Saunders, who survives,
and the son of Mr. Jonah Ware Saunders and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Shreve Saunders, both
deceased. He was a member of Union Baptist Church, where he was trustee and usher. He
was a member of the Accomack Lodge No. 243 AF & AM, Accomack Chapter No. 62
Order of the Eastern Star, Royal Arch Chapter No. 75, Commandary No. 34. He was a
maintenance worker for Refuge Motor Inn.
Survivors other than his wife include three daughters, Ms. Pam Warfield and Ms. Sandra
Saunders, both of Baltimore, Md., and Ms. Barbara Lynn Pickett of Pennsylvania; two
stepsons, Mr. Donnie Wayne Tynbdall and Mr. Brian Tyndall of Chincoteague; two
sisters, Ms. Inez Wrenn of Reidsville and Ms. Geraldine Saunders of Mebane; a brother,
Mr. William Saunders of Reidsville; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Union Baptist Church by the Rev. William
Gregory. Burial will be in Daisey Cemetery on Church Street.
