Willie “Billy” Gilliam

   ELON — Willie Monroe “Billy” Gilliam, 70, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after two years of failing health.

   He was born in Alamance County to the late Willie Loften “Bill” Gilliam and the late Lora Louise Herbin Gilliam and was the husband of 37 years to Genene Paschal Gilliam who survives.

   Billy retired after 15 years with C&D International Tractor and First Source Rental. He was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church.

   Survivors, in addition to his wife, Genene, of the home, include his daughter and son-in-law, Malinda and Kevin Simmons; sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Jane Gilliam, Clint and Robyn McCann, Jeff and Tammy McCann; 19 grandchildren; sister and brotherin-law, Carolyn and Howard Little; brother and sister-inlaw, Stevie and Ann Gilliam.

   He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Jeweldene Johnson and Audrey Moore.

   The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2014, in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. David Morris with burial to follow in Bethlehem Christian Church cemetery.

   The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. and at other times at the home.

   Memorials may be made to Blessed Hope Baptist Church, 1049 WR Lane, Burlington, NC 27217.
