Robert Wayne Stewart, Sr.
BURLINGTON - Robert Wayne Stewart, Sr., 68, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the Hospice Home surrounded by his family.
He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of 47 years to Linda McFatter Stewart who survives.
Robert worked for over 21 years with Glen Raven Mills and later with Riverview Narrow Fabrics and Cape Associates.
He was a member of Harvest Baptist Church and a 1967 graduate of Walter Williams High School. He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends and was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Robert loved his cat “Scouter” who kept him company during his recent illness.
Survivors include his wife, Linda M. Stewart of the home son, Robert W. Stewart, Jr.; daughter, Tonya M. Jenkins and husband, Jeremiah; grandkids, Justin Tate, Wesley Stewart, Samantha Corn and husband, Brian; brother, Henry Stewart and sisters, Tammy Rector and Lou Ann Stewart; nieces and nephews, Allison Teapole, Susa McCutcheon, Michael McCutcheon and many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Hinshaw Stewart Stacey and step father, Ed Stacey; grandson, Robert C. Tate; sisters, Bobby Harden and Ruth Mc-Cutcheon; brother, William Stewart, Jr.; sister-in-law, Joan Brower and a brother-in-law, Jimmy McFatter.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. David Winstead and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and other times at the home.
