Patsy Wagoner Matkins

July 20, 1933 - December 17, 2013

Patsy Wagoner Matkins, age 80 went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 17, 2013. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of the late George William Matkins, Sr. She was an active member of Shallow Ford Christian Church and retired from Bobbitt Labs as a biological artist.
Our beloved mother, Maw-Maw, sister, aunt, and best friend passed away. There are few words to describe the woman that walked this earth on feet that trod alongside you when you were sad, hands that prepared meals with love, and a smile that let you know she loved you.
She walked the path of a Christian, taught her children what love looks like, and above all, she gave of herself. Many people walk in our lives, few will ever touch our lives like Pat did. She was and will always be: love. The memories we all cherish will forever keep her close. Mom, Maw-Maw, we love you and miss you. We know you are dancing with Daddy and smiling that smile that makes your blue eyes twinkle.

She is survived by her daughter, Janis Lumpkin and husband, Claude of Burlington, sons, G. W. Matkins and wife, Kim Mann of Graham, Jay Harrison and wife Ahna and Mark Harrison and wife, Debbie all of Oregon; her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she loved and adored; brother, James "Buddy" Wagoner and wife, Nancy of Sneads Ferry, NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. and Blossie Smith Wagoner; grandchild, Justin Matkins; brother, Ronnie Wagoner and sisters, Maude Wagoner, Grace Pike and Lessie Faulkner.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Shallow Ford Christian Church by Rev. Steve Regan and assisted by Rev. Powell Sykes. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of her daughter.
Memorials may be made to Shallow Ford Christian Church, c/o The Sound System, P O Box 656, Elon, NC 27244.
