Billy Burke Garrison
ELON – Billy Burke Garrison, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 19, 2018 at his home.
A native of Alamance County, he was born April 22, 1926 to the late Lindsay Sidney and Carrie Murray Garrison and was the husband of 37 years to Mildred Matkins Garrison of the home.
Billy was a longtime member of Stony Creek Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon. He most recently attended Shiloh United Methodist Church for 37 years where he was a member of the Methodist Men.
Billy retired from AMP Incorporated after 25 years of service. He was an avid Duke fan and enjoyed gardening and mowing. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred; daughters, Linda Bolick (Wayne), Judy Herring (Dannie), and Kathy Stowe (Frank); son, Glenn Wayne Garrison (Lynn); step-daughter, Chelsea Troxler Wiles (Nathan); step-sons, Robert Lee Troxler, Jr. (Cindy), Ronald Craig Troxler (Joan) and Hunter John Troxler (Tammy); ten grandchildren, 18 greatgrandchildren, 10 stepgrandchildren, one stepgreat grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 34 years, Lillian Squires Garrison; sisters, Mary Lea Barker, Elida Patterson, Elizabeth Coleman and Louise Sutton and brothers, Clyde Garrison, Leon Garrison, Murray Garrison and Herbert Garrison.
A service to celebrate his life will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2018 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory by Rev. Judson Dunlap with the burial to follow at Stony Creek Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive friends from 5 -7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stony Creek Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 2140 Stoney Creek Church Rd, Burlington, NC 27217, Shiloh UMC, 4718 N North Carolina Hwy 87, Gibsonville, NC 27249 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
