Hilda McAlister Brannock BURLINGTON — Mrs. Hilda McAlister Brannock, 87, of Catherine Drive, Burlington, died Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at the Hospice Home of Burlington after an extended illness.
A native of Rockingham County, Hilda was the wife of the late John Henry Brannock and the daughter of the late James Russell McAlister and the late Mattie King McAlister.
Hilda retired as office manager of Belk-Beck Department Store in Burlington after 25 years of service.
She was a long-time member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Burlington, where she was involved in all areas of church life. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, growing flowers, and creating beautiful items for her home and to share with others.
She is survived by two daughters, the Rev. Jane Brannock of Burlington and Patricia Brannock Rhodes and her husband, Scott, also of Burlington; two grandchildren, Delaney Brannock Rhodes and Cameron Scott Rhodes and her sister, Lois
M. French of Reidsville.
In addition to her husband and parents, Hilda was preceded in death by her brother-inlaw, Robert J. French; sister, Winifred Shreve and brothers, Everette McAlister, Russell McAlister
and Curtis McAlister.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 11, from 12:30 until 1:45
p.m.at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Lee Roy Pittard III. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
