Obituary Online notes for James Robert COBB Jr.
Mr. J. Robert Cobb Jr, 92, died peacefully at his home on September 5, 2017. Robert was born on March 18, 1925 in Guilford County and lived there his entire life. He graduated from McLeansville High School and then earned the Bronze Star as a machine gunner in General Patton's Third Army in World War Two. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and then served in the Military Police at the Nuremburg War Trials. Funeral services will be held at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, 5120 Burlington Road, Greensboro, on Friday, September 8th at 3:00 p.m., where he was a lifelong member. Visitation will be at Mount Pleasant Methodist Church on Thursday, September 7th from 6 pm until 8 pm. Robert was preceded in death by his parents James Robert Cobb Sr. and Katie Lee Cobb. Also by brother Stanley Cobb and sisters, Virginia Kirkman and Frances Phillips. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; daughter, Debbie Bernhardt and husband Randy; son, Darrell Cobb and wife Joy; son, Duane Cobb and wife Lisa; daughter, Denise Goga and husband Robert. Grandchildren, Brett Bernhardt and wife Erika; Kerri Wimberly and husband Manning; Danielle Cobb and fiancé Christopher Chambers, Sophie Cobb, Sophia Goga, Bristol Cobb and Christian Goga. Great grandchildren Beckett Bernhardt, Xander Bernhardt and Karson Wimberly.
