Elsie Mae Cobb Hill, 94, of McLeansville, died Tuesday, July 8 at Ashton Place after a short illness. Service will be held Saturday, July 12 11:00 a.m. at Friedens Lutheran Church, Gibsonville, NC with the interment in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Hill was born September 22, 1919 in Guilford County to the late Vernon and Mollie Cobb. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard Cobb, Charles Cobb, and Ralph Cobb, sister Ruth Tickle and son-in-law James Jobe.
Mrs. Hill was a very talented seamstress with the ability to make any dress casual or formal by using a picture. She was well known for her beautiful bridal gowns. Mrs. Hill retired from H & H-Banks Clothing Store after 50 years of service. She retired again from Dean's Office Machines at the age of 90 after 15 years of service. She worked several part-time jobs during her lifetime. She was very independent until her illness in March 2014.
She was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church. A member of McLeansville Fire Auxiliary for 20+ years where she served as the "P.R." person. She loved being outdoors working with her flowers and in the garden. Her love of her family and people in general made her a very special person. Mrs. Hill never met a stranger. Her smile, after she could no longer talk will be greatly missed.
