Mr. Manning Henry Lilienthal Jr.

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Mr. Manning Henry Lilienthal Jr., 76, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at his home.

A native of Charleston, he was the husband of Mrs. Elizabeth Liles Lilienthal, who survives, and the son of Mr. Manning Henry Lilienthal and Mrs. Mary Lillian Ehney Lilienthal, both deceased.

He was a retired teletype writer supervisor with U.S. Naval Communications.

He was a past member of St. Andrews Lodge No. 267 A.F.M.; Scottish Rite, Omar Shrine, Loyalty Chapter No. 136 W.E.S.; Lawrence Howell Court No. 7, Order of Amarantha; and South Carolina Football Officials Association.

He was a member of St. Johannes Lutheran Church, where he was past president of the Church Council.

Survivors other than his wife of Charleston include a son, Mr. Manning H. “Rick” Lilienthal III of Elon College; a sister, Ms. Marie L. Schroder of Charleston; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today at St. Johannes Lutheran Church. A private burial will be directed by J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Funeral Chapel.
