Mrs. Alice Burke Sutton
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Alice Burke Sutton, 86, of White Oak Manor, died at 5:50 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2000, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several years of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife for more than 50 years to the late Mr. Walter Paul Sutton and the daughter of Mr. C.W. “Bunk” Burke and Mrs. Flora Nicks Burke, both deceased.
She was a lifelong member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Mr. Jerry Paul Sutton of Gastonia and Mr. Timothy Douglas Sutton of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Anne Butler and Mrs. Betsy Burke Watkins, both of Burlington; four brothers, Mr. Norman L. “Spider” Burke and Mr. Robert C. Burke, both of Burlington, Mr. Henry Hilton Burke of Columbia, S.C., and Mr. Raymond L. Burke of Spartanburg, S.C.; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Valeria Burke Matherly and Mrs. Ethel Burke Langley; and three brothers, Mr. Hugh “Buck” Burke, Mr. Carl “Bunk” Burke and Mr. Wallace Burke.
A private service will be conducted.
